Project Overview
In 2009, I was contracted by Studio 7NY to edit a series of studio performance-style music videos for their client, Koch Entertainment. The musical act was called The Revelations Featuring Tre Williams. The performance was shot at Sir Studios in New York City.
The band had been generating buzz, so the goal of the project was to capitalize on that and introduce them to a wider audience by releasing slick videos of their new songs.
As editor, my job began by syncing all four of the cameras’ footage for each take of each song; 7 songs in total. I then multi-cam edited each performance. Once the band informed me which takes they liked best, I proceeded to fine cut those selections. I finished the edit by using the outtakes as non-sync broll to fill in any visual gaps I identified, always striving to maintain the essence of the live studio performance, as the client wanted. After approval, I color-graded the sequences and delivered the product to the client’s specifications.
The video above for the song “I Don't Want To Know" has over 900,000 views on YouTube.
